Why We’re Focusing on Christian Social Media

Most of us live in a society driven by the digital age. Our lives have been engulfed in the internet, our smartphones, and communication through technological staples such as social media. We have decided to take a portion of this ministry and use technology to spread the message.

This wasn’t an easy decision. While we are digitally based with our outreach, we have hesitated since the beginning to utilize too much technology because of the inherent evils associated within the digital realm. The internet is rife with temptation. Social media is used heavily by atheists as well as anti-Judeo-Christian organizations like the Islamic State. Technology itself can be a distraction that pulls us away from the Word of God and the teachings of Yeshua and keeps our focus on this world.

There are many reasons why we didn’t want to get too involved with social media, but really only one reason to do it. The reach is potentially tremendous. Never in the history of man has there been an easier way to present and discuss the Gospel than through social media. In many ways, it’s a den of evil that keeps our minds away from what’s important. This is a reason to avoid it. Then again, it might be the very reason to utilize it more than anything else.

When Professional Skills Meet Our Calling

We started building this ministry with the goal of fighting against two forces: the non-Christian worldview and the “faux Christian” worldview. The non-Christian worldview is easy to understand and spreading the Word of God to non-believers is pretty straightforward. The “faux Christian” perspective is one that is much more challenging to understand because so many who want to be true followers of Christ do not realize that the doctrines they hear on Sundays are shrouded in worldly manipulations. We want to shine a light on the truth so people who are currently under the influence of both of these forces can see the right direction to head in their lives.

Professionally, I work in social media marketing. One would think that making the transition to use these skills within this ministry is a no-brainer, but seeing what I see and knowing what I know about social media and the digital age in general have given me pause until now. Just because you can do something doesn’t necessarily mean that you should.

Recently, I’ve been seeing both promoters of false doctrine as well as instigators of false religions growing more powerful on social media. They’re getting more savvy and the “good guys” are falling behind. We can’t sit back and lose so many people to the false teachers of the world, teachers promoting social media events like this:

Love Your Life

An event like this promotes the exact opposite of what the Gospel of John states:

John 12:25 (KJV)

He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

After much prayer, we’re ready to apply these skills to promoting God’s Word and the Truth of the Bible.

We Need Help

Size isn’t everything in social media, but it does matter. As we expand our ministry to be more involved with social media, we need support from those who believe as we do that God’s Word and the Truths of the Bible must be kept pure, that we must fight against false doctrines, and that it is our responsibility to reach as many people as we can in our life.

If you are active at all on social media sites, we encourage you to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, and add us to your circles on Google+. We will be growing on other social sites like YouTube, Tumblr, and Pinterest as well, but the other three are getting the bulk of our focus.

We are also interested in talking to those who can write articles, create visual Bible verses, and share posts on their own social channels. Please contact us if you are interested.

In the meantime, please…
