Hebrews 11-6

Hebrews 11:6 (Complete Jewish Bible)

“And without trusting, it is impossible to be well pleasing to God, because whoever approaches him must trust that he does exist and that he becomes a Rewarder to those who seek him out.”

What this means to me: There is both a simple and a complex meaning to this verse. On the surface, the message is clear. You have to believe in God’s existence and honor His status as your Creator to please Him. He does not reward those who do not even acknowledge him. The portion that goes deeper, “whoever approaches him must trust that he does exist,” demonstrates a path to understanding. It isn’t a situation where God’s existence must be proven to people as they explore the question, but rather that it will be made clear to them once they accept and believe.
