The Importance of Ephesians 6:12

The Bible must be read throughout and everything should be taken in context rather than as individual passages, though some may bring meaning to those who seek a special word. Nonetheless, Ephesians 6:12 stands out as a verse that acts as a warning throughout all of time.

Even in the days when Paul wrote to the Ephesians, there was evil at work in the world that was spreading to the highest level of government. This trend has been and always will be until Yeshua is on His throne, but it holds special meaning to us now if you believe as many do that we are in the last days.

The buildup to this point has been gradual but has accelerated in the last seven decades and is manifesting itself in ways that are pulling more and more people into a state of uncertainty that is alarming. In context, this verse is clear in its purpose. We might be able to defend ourselves against each other, but against principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness of the world, there is only one defense.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

It doesn’t matter who you are. Guns won’t save you. Storing food won’t save you. You could be the strongest person with a group of people to protect you and it will not be enough against the evil that will come for us because it is not man against man but the forces of evil against the people. The only protection is the full Armor of God that Paul writes about so eloquently.

Those of you who are preparing for the bad times ahead can do nothing on your own to protect you, for they are not after your body. They’re after your soul. They want to break you, to make you succumb to their will through fear of punishments. They will threaten with loss of lifestyle, loss of security, loss of freedom, and even loss of life. The only protection you have is the Armor of God. It may help to protect you in this world but that is only important in allowing you to do God’s Will. Many will die quickly when the end comes and only the deepest faith, the shield of which Paul writes, can keep you strong enough to make it through when they come to break you.

Know your enemy. It is not men. It is the powers that rule even the rulers of the land. With this understanding, we can find the strength given to us through the Holy Spirit to stay true through our end. By staying true, the end becomes our new beginning.
